Affiliate Disclosure
Last Updated: February 25, 2026
Quick version: Some links on Neurum may earn us a commission if you purchase through them. This NEVER influences what we recommend. We often recommend products we earn nothing from, and we regularly advise against products that would make us money. Our recommendations are based on research, not revenue.
How We Earn Revenue
Neurum is a free resource. We do not charge subscription fees, lock content behind paywalls, or require registration to access our research. To sustain the site and fund ongoing research work, we may participate in affiliate programs and display contextual product references.
When you click on certain product links on our site and make a purchase, we may receive a small commission from the retailer. This comes at no additional cost to you -- the price you pay is the same whether you use our link or go directly to the store.
Our Affiliate Ethics Policy
We hold ourselves to strict ethical standards regarding affiliate relationships:
- Research comes first: Our editorial team researches and writes content BEFORE any product recommendations are added. The research conclusions drive the recommendations, never the other way around.
- We recommend against products: If a supplement has weak evidence, safety concerns, or poor value, we say so -- even when affiliate programs exist for those products.
- We recommend products with no affiliate: Many of our top recommendations are from brands that do not offer affiliate programs. We recommend them anyway because they are the best option.
- No pay-for-placement: No brand can pay to be featured, ranked higher, or receive a more favorable review on Neurum. We have declined offers to do so.
- Full transparency: Pages containing affiliate links will be identified. This disclosure page is permanently accessible from our footer on every page.
Affiliate Programs We May Participate In
We may participate in affiliate programs including, but not limited to:
- Amazon Associates Program
- iHerb affiliate program
- Direct brand affiliate programs (e.g., Nootropics Depot, Pure Encapsulations)
- Other retailer affiliate programs
Participation in these programs means that qualifying purchases made through our links may generate a commission for Neurum. The specific commission rates vary by program and product category.
FTC Compliance
This disclosure is provided in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's (FTC) guidelines on endorsements and testimonials. We are committed to honest and transparent communication about any material connections between Neurum and the products or services we discuss.
Product Selection Criteria
When we do mention or link to specific products, our selection process considers:
- Third-party testing: Products tested by independent labs (NSF, USP, ConsumerLab) are strongly preferred.
- Clinically studied forms: We prioritize products using the specific ingredient forms and doses studied in clinical trials.
- Value for money: Cost per effective dose matters. We will not recommend a $60 product when a $15 product contains the same clinically-validated ingredient at the same dose.
- Manufacturing standards: cGMP certified facilities, transparent sourcing, and accessible Certificates of Analysis.
- User reputation: Long-standing positive reputation in the consumer and research communities.
